In the remote Scottish hills of Dumfries and Galloway, three stone arches stride across the moors to symbolize how the Scottish people have strode out across the world.
Some of those Scots settled in the Carolinas and Charlotte in the 1700s, forming the beginnings of the early city.
The Charlotte Arches will be a stone monument to echo the original sculpture in Scotland, pointing from here to there, and linking the areas in a unique and special way.
George Crump was born a mile from the arches in Scotland, and now lives in Charlotte. George wants to build the arches as a way to forge a permanent link between the old world and the new, while creating a world-class sculptural exhibit for the Charlotte area.
