People probably don’t realize this but Mint Hill, and not Charlotte, was actually Mecklenburg County’s first town. Mint Hill is a sweet, little, and sparse suburban town in southeastern Mecklenburg and northwestern Union counties and is surrounded by lots of farmland and heavily wooded areas. Although it’s not exceedingly populated, most of Mint Hill’s residents own their own homes and enjoy homegrown entertainment in this very peaceful community. There is definitely a convivial feel whenever you visit Mint Hill–everyone is polite and acts like they know one another.
The typical resident in Mint Hill is that of a “yuppie” (young professional) but it’s also a hopping suburb so expect a lot of families to be bustling about on the weekends to their many restaurants with outdoor seating, ice cream shops, walking paths, and small-town breweries. Mint Hill, although small and only the 41st largest city in North Carolina, packs a punch. It’s a town definitely worth residing in or at the very least, visiting when you want to get out of the city.
